Another Incredible Victory for Weirdwood Manor With Kidscreen Awards Win!

February 10, 2016

“The Incredible Tales of Weirdwood Manor” tied with Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time Game Wizard to win Best Game App — Tablet at the seventh annual Kidscreen Awards, held last night in Miami, Florida.

The award was presented to Executive Producer, Paul Pattison, and Associate Producer, Sacha Raposo, of All Play, No Work. A runner-up in the “App Store Best of 2015”, Weirdwood Manor was produced with the support of the Canadian Media Fund (CMF) and the Canadian Film Centre (CFC) IDEABOOST program.

“It is our mission to get kids excited about reading again, said Paul Pattison. “We want them to explore their imaginations, and be inspired to create their own stories. We’re thrilled by the response from our peers in the industry, Apple, and most of all, our enthusiastic readers!”

An app-based middle-school fantasy novel that rolls-out in six parts, Weirdwood Manor tells the story of three children — Oliver, Celia and Eugene — who, while all misfits, each have special talents.

Brought to Weirdwood Manor by the eccentric writer and inventor, Arthur Weirdwood, the children quickly realize that things are not quite what they seem in the magical, book-filled manor house. Full of mystery and adventure, the story aims to inspire children to celebrate their uniqueness, recognize their talents, and embrace their imagination.

Not only does Weirdwood Manor tell a fantastic story, it also provides a rich, interactive experience for young readers. Readers help move the story along by solving puzzles and playing games. The app also includes hundreds of hidden objects and illustrations that help uncover the truth about the mysterious manor.

Weirdwood Manor is brought to life by narrator Beau Stephenson and the original, haunting music of composers Lodewijk Vos and Joseph Murray.

In addition to being a runner-up in the “App Store Best of 2015,” Weirdwood Manor has been an App Store Editor’s Choice (Canada) and Featured and Best New App (Canada/US). Late last year, Weirdwood Manor won a Digi Award for “Best in Mobile Entertainment”.
